The Great Outdoors!
Students left their classrooms this week for an overnight experience with the Wiltshire Outdoor Learning Team at Brokerswood Country Park.
Over the two days the Year 11 students were challenged to solve problems, work as teams, and develop their confidence and leadership skills.
They took part in range of exciting activities including raft building, survival fire lighting, canoeing and cooking their dinner over open wood fires. This was finished by team games that required navigational skills in a very dark woodland at night time.
Student Fraser Hicks said he enjoyed all the activities. “I learnt that you really have to work at being a successful team.”
His fellow UTC student, Amy Wooldridge said it was great fun. “Some things were a real challenge, but if you get on with it you will probably get it right.”
Ewan Scott, Vice Principal at the UTC, who went on the school trip said: “Everyone had a brilliant time and learnt skills that will support them in the future and perhaps more importantly as they prepare for their GCSE exams.”
