Not too late to change schools!
“It’s never too late to change schools,” says Salisbury UTC student Fraser Hicks. The 16-year-old left his previous school in Year 10 because he found the learning environment was not supporting his ambitions.
The teenager, who travels in on the bus from Amesbury, wants to be a pilot or a mechanical engineer and is studying a range of GCSEs, that will hopefully get him a step closer to his dream career.
“I’m really progressing here,” said Fraser. “I’ve been offered an apprenticeship already so I am deciding whether to do that or go to university, I’m leaning towards university.”
It was friends who recommended the UTC to Fraser and he says he’d do the same now. “I’d recommend this school and say to anyone who thinks they are stuck where they are, you’re not, and it’s not too late to move.”
“… To anyone who thinks they are stuck where they are, you’re not, and it’s not too late to move.”
His sentiments are echoed by UTC Principal Joe Mulligan. “I want to assure parents and students alike that everyone here at the UTC wants to make changing schools as easy as possible. If your son or daughter has a keen interest in STEM subjects, like Fraser, then we could be the right place for them.
“Our GCSE results this year were a major improvement on last year with many making significant gains including maths, all sciences and engineering.”
