Year 13 student, Ben, has secured an Aviation Technician apprenticeship with the RAF, to follow his dream of working in aviation.

Ben said: “From a young age, I have always wanted to fly or be in an aircraft. Initially, I wanted to join the RAF as a pilot, but that may be something I go into down the line. I have also explored the Weapons System Operator (WZO) route, however, they ideally like you to be a little older, so I decided to apply for an Aviation Technician apprenticeship, which would get a good trade behind me, and then re-assess my situation after that.”

“I am really pleased to have received an offer from the RAF and I am looking forward to joining the industry.”

“I joined South Wilts UTC in Year 10 because of the specialist courses it offered and chose to stay on at sixth form to continue my studies. I am currently studying an Engineering Level 3 Extended Diploma and physics A-level.”

We wish Ben the best of luck with his exams and a bright future with the RAF.
